New Year

I liked what Neil Gaiman wrote about the new year (though it was for 2002 and equally applied to 2006) :

May your [year] be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in [the year], you surprise yourself.

So I copied the quote to put on my LJ pages until something else comes along. It sort of makes me think of Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen), that type of advice.

Then again I also like what Gregory House said about birthdays :

HOUSE: ... Well, normally I'd put on a festive hat and celebrate the fact that the Earth has circled the sun one more time. I really didn't think it was gonna make it this year, but darnit, if it wasn't the Little Planet That Could all over again.

[House, MD - 1.06 - The Socratic Method]

I think I had something to say about the new year, but I've forgotten it, and it wouldn't have been that much. Maybe I could have looked for some more quotes. Anyway, hope '06 brings you more ups than downs.
